Warnings

• Nexium 24HR should be used with caution in patients with heartburn or acid reflux.
• This medicine is not suitable for people with certain medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes.
• This medicine may cause dizziness or lightheadedness.
• It may cause stomach bleeding.
• If you have any allergy or intolerance symptoms, stop taking this medicine and get emergency medical attention.
• This medicine should not be taken by children.
• This medicine may increase the blood level of certain medicines, including warfarin.
• This medicine may decrease the amount of acid produced by the stomach or may cause a decrease in the amount of acid produced by the stomach.
• If you have any kidney problems, stop taking this medicine and get emergency medical attention.
• This medicine should not be used to treat heartburn or acid reflux.

Before taking this medicine

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to esomeprazole, or any of the ingredients.

Do not use esomeprazole if you have had an allergic reaction to esomeprazole or any of the ingredients in this medicine.

Taking other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines. Before taking esomeprazole, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of:

• heart problems or problems with the heart rhythm (heart attack or stroke), including heart failure, angina, chest pain or other heart problems, liver problems, kidney problems, or problems with the blood circulation to the lungs (such as acute kidney injury, needle pain, severe liver failure, jaundice).
• liver problems such as yellowing of the skin or eyes, or problems with the liver. Tell your doctor or pharmacist of all medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, herbs, and supplements. Some medicines may affect the way other medicines work, and others may make the medicines less effective. Do not take more or less medicine than your doctor has prescribed.

This medicine may be taken with or without food. If you are taking the medication for a heart problem, your doctor will do some tests before you start taking it. Do not take this medicine for more than a few days at a time unless your doctor tells you to.
